The centre is run by 5 people but also engages 21 professors outside.
The Three Gorges Culture Institute was first established in 1992. After being set up again in 2000, it was renamed "Research Center for Three Gorges Culture and Economic & Social Development". In December 2002, it was accredited as key base to research in human & social sciences in the University of Hubei. In December 2003, it was divided into a CTGU research center of the tourism planning and development.
The center focuses on 3 topics: Three Gorges culture, Three Gorges regional economy and social problems, tourism development.
The main aims of the center are researching science, serving society, constructing discipline, training talents, being the staff officer of government and the other brains of enterprises.
This centre is the highest rank base of researching the humane social science in areas of Yichang and Three Gorges . As the Three Gorges resources being developed and utilized more and more , the Three Gorges Projects being paid much attention to by the whole world, it is meaningful and valuable to study the culture and economy of Three Gorges .This centre can give suggestions and strategies to the government departments and enterprises, push Three Gorges to the world better.
