CTGU motto, "Qiu Suo", means "exploring and studying".

The word "Qiu Suo" comes from the Li sao by Qu Yuan, a famous patriotic poet: "It is a long way for us to go before we reach the goal but I will try my best to explore"

"Qiu Suo"

CTGU, or "Sanxia Daxue" in Chinese.

CTGU logo: setting sail and pursuing knowledge.

The symbolic meaning of the logo is roaming in the sea of books and pursuing knowledge, and all the teachers and students will do their best to realize their dreams. The bright green color stands for the development of hydroelectric engineering and the Three Gorges Culture.

Also, each year on May 25th, the whole university celebrates its founding. In fact, the provincial committee and government issued the message that China Three Gorges University could be established on May 25th, 2000. This was the first time a comprehensive university was founded outside Wuhan (the capital of Hubei Province) May 25th is also a good time for the alumni to return to Alma Mater and take part in commemoration activities ; at this time of the year, breezes blow, flowers are in blossom and spring is at its full best. What¡¯s more, in Chinese "5/25th" sounds like "wo ai wo xiao", which means "we love our university".
